Cricket is Looking for a Home

Cricket’s SUCH a delightful dog!! And she’s made a tremendous journey from being an undernourished outdoor dog dumped at the Animal Control along with her 5 puppies to becoming a sweet well mannered indoor companion!

She’s a Pointer mix, but unlike most pointers, she’s a low energy dog. She’s happy with a walk around the neighborhood in the morning, then she’s good for her indoor power nap all day. She doesn’t require crating and is perfectly happy to lounge in her chair until you come home. She’s housetrained and hasn’t had any accidents indoors. She’s not destructive and hasn’t chewed or torn anything up. She likes an occasional bone but isn’t possessive about any toys or her food. She has a soft mouth and takes treats nicely from your hand as well. She’s equally agreeable to having her paws handled, which makes trimming her nails very easy.

Smiling Miss Cricket

She’s mastering good manners like a pro! She loves to learn and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement. She politely sits before getting her leash on and before meals. Cricket's learning how to be consistent with walking nicely by my side and responds to several voice commands and hand signals.  Her new skills are teaching her to ignore  distractions.  In case you haven’t figured it out...Cricket's incredibly sweet and  mellow and will make someone a great companion!! She's well on her way to good manners but will need a home that understands how to provide some leadership and positive reinforcement so that she doesn't lapse back into any former bad habits. Of course the same is true for every shelter dog and nothing unique to Cricket. :-)

Cricket is equally comfortable with men and women, so a home with either or both would be fine for her. Cricket is social and absolutely adores attention. She is outgoing and affectionate, and really wants to be your buddy. Inside the house she is calm and laid-back and wants to follow you around or chew on a bone while you watch T.V. However, outside the house she gets  distracted.. As far as other dogs go, Cricket is currently living with two other dogs quite nicely, but she is more of an alpha girl and would probably do best as an only dog or perhaps in a home with a male dog close to her size, but having another dog at home is not necessary for her. She's completely comfortable and at ease by herself.

Cricket’s 3 ½ yrs old and she’s been spayed, has all of her vaccinations, is microchipped and has completed her heartworm treatment and is now on preventative. See more photos of Cricket.

Her foster mom would love to brag some more about her, so if you are interested in additional information on Cricket, please contact Mary email or call 713-802-2689 (hm).
